The chair consists of two unique pieces that maintain the original lines of the 1950s BICAchair.

One of the standout features of the Bica Lounge is the use of natural cork upholstery. This addition not only adds a touch of Portuguese tradition but also honors the art of cork transformation, which is unique to Portugal. The chair embraces the country's cultural roots while giving it a contemporary twist.

Environmental and social responsibility were key considerations in the design process. The Bica Lounge is made using steel, one of the most recycled and recyclable materials in the world. The use of waterless degreasing and finishing solutions further reduces its environmental impact. The upholstery is made from a natural product that undergoes a highly technological production process, making it suitable for both home and contract markets.

The Bica Lounge offers a compromise between a traditional chair and a chaise longue. Its proportions and comfort are enviable, allowing users to sit effortlessly for hours. Whether in a formal or casual setting, this lounge chair is highly versatile and suitable for various spaces.

The Bica Lounge was initially conceptualized in 2001 and materialized as a prototype in 2016 for a 5-star hotel project in Porto, Portugal. In April 2021, it will be officially presented to the general public, showcasing its unique design and exceptional comfort.

This design has received recognition for its outstanding creativity and resourcefulness. The Bica Lounge was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
